College & Career Readiness Outcomes
Students using the Student Paths program can expect to accomplish the following 12 college and career readiness outcomes, which are modeled on the Common Core and American School Counseling Association (ASCA) standards:
Grade 9 — Explore Your Path
- Students understand their choices of colleges and careers.
- Students identify personal strengths and weaknesses that include:
A) Skills and abilities
B) Interests, passions and personality
C) Needs to fulfill their goals for education, career, and life.
- Students use a process to set long- and short-term goals, and act to achieve these goals.
Grade 10 — Choose Your Path
- Students choose courses and activities that align with their interests and abilities.
- Students develop awareness of their social system of support and constraints, and choose associations and behaviors that align with their values and goals.
- Students use strengths to achieve goals and employ strategies to improve upon weak areas.
Grade 11 — Prepare for Your Path
- Students prepare academically to transition to life after high school. This includes preparation in Common Core academics in:
A) Mathematics and logical reasoning
B) Communications and literacy (reading, writing, speaking and listening)
- Students prepare socially for life after high school and use their networks to accomplish goals.
- Students take practical steps to transition to post-high school options, including:
A) Campus visits, the college application process, standardized testing, deadlines
B) Requirements for military enlistment, apprentice programs, etc.
C) Researching and applying for scholarships, filling out the FAFSA, student debt
Grade 12 — Live Your Future Path
- Students apply and are accepted to the post-secondary option of their choice.
- Students understand how to manage their money and time to accomplish career and life goals.
- Students combine strengths and abilities with professional aspirations and preparation to engage in purposeful life activities.
